Baptism has been described as “an outward expression, of an inward transformation.” At Immanuel we don’t baptize so you can go to heaven, we baptize because you are going to heaven. The Christian life is not meant to be lived in isolation. It is to be lived in community, and better yet, in a small community. At Immanuel we call them small groups. Another way to put it is like this: real growth does not happen best in rows; it happens best in circles. Sitting in a large-group row is just the beginning of your growth as a believer. Growth is kicked in overdrive when we sit in a circle where we can talk with each other, ask questions, learn from each other, and pray for each other. God has given each of us talents, abilities and interests. The Bible calls them spiritual gifts. He wants us to use them for His purpose. Immanuel has several opportunities to put those talents to work for Kingdom purposes. Volunteer ministry teams are the backbone of what takes place at Immanuel.
