In the late 1900’s (that just doesn’t sound right) high blood pressure was tagged “The Silent Killer” because its’ deadly work was unseen and unheard until it was too late.
There is a “Silent Killer” to the vitality of our spiritual lives. This silent killer…
- Quenches the work of the Holy Spirit.
- Keeps us from hearing God.
- Hinders growth in every area.
- Fosters unforgiveness, anger, jealousy, selfishness and bitterness.
- Creates strife and division at all levels.
I could say that it is part of every conflict, breakup and breakdown in relationships, groups, and even society.
The Bible lays this silent killer at the foot of destruction (Proverbs 16:18-19). If look at a life just before it was destroyed, you find it. It is called PRIDE!
If you don’t think it is a problem for you, it has blinded you. If you think you may have a problem with it, you are right. It infects every one of us. It is a lie straight from the bowels of Hell.
How can I keep it in check? Keep a clear view! A clear view of the mercies of God that justifies a life that was separated from God.
