The Old Testament consists of books that include historical narrative, law, poetry, wisdom, and prophetic. The prophetic books are classified as minor and major, due not to their importance, but to the length of the book itself.
Daniel is listed under the major prophets even though it is only 12 chapters long. It is minor in length, but major in impact.
The book of Daniel carries some pretty cool content. First, two classic Bible stories: The Fiery Furnace and Daniel in the Lion’s Den.
Second, the book has been referred to as the “Mountaintop of Prophecy.” The prophecies included in Daniel are both visually stunning and historically accurate.
The prophecies range from just years of the writing to the first coming of Jesus to the end of the age.
Daniel’s accuracy is so astonishing that it has brought great controversy and criticism.
Beginning June 5, in our summer worship series, we will walk through Daniel. Be part of the journey and discover a God who comes through in difficult times, defends the faithful, keeps His promises and still has greater things to come.
I’m looking forward to seeing you on the journey.
