Can I ask you a question? Oh, I just did. Seriously, I want you to answer this one very important question:
What is the Gospel?
Don’t read further until you have answered the question. Have you answered it? Ok, what is it?
The Greek word from which we get our word gospel literally means Good News. OK, so what is the Good News?
My guess is, if you fall into the norm of America and even people who call themselves Christians, a little over half of you answered something along the lines of God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life.
While that answer is true, by definition and according to the Scripture, it is not the Gospel/Good News of Jesus Christ.
My fear is that, because many don’t understand what the Good News of Jesus Christ is, we have been deceived in what it means to be a Christ follower.
Paul’s letter to the believers in Rome was dedicated to clearly and thoroughly laying out the Good News of Jesus.
This summer at Immanuel, we are walking down that Roman’s Road. My challenge to you: invest in the series, read the letter yourself and ask God to open your eyes to the truth and Good News of the Gospel of Jesus. It will change…everything.
