Do these comments sound familiar? “All the church talks about is money.” “They only
want your money.” “Oh no, he’s preaching about money, AGAIN!”
It might surprise you that Jesus spoke more about money and possessions than all other
things except the Kingdom of God. Did you know that 11 of Jesus’ 39 parables are
about money and possessions?
If I want to teach like Jesus, it means each month I need to bring at least one message
about money. I’m sure that bird wouldn’t fly.
Why is that? Jesus knows there is a direct
link that connects our heart to our pocketbook. If you want to know where
one’s heart is, follow the money.
Paul said that the LOVE of money is the root of all kinds of evil. In the next sentence, he
wrote that it has caused many to wander from the faith.
God’s (Biblical) Economy is different than this world’s economy. In this world’s
economy you can never have enough. So, it is more, more, more, even though when
you die you can’t take it with you. When you die you leave it all.
In God’s economy, while you can’t take it with you, you can send it ahead. When you
use money and possessions to further His kingdom, you invest it into an account that
pays eternal dividends. So be a wise steward and send it ahead where rust and
moth can’t destroy.
