One of the most popular lines in movie history is said by Jack Nicholson in A Few Good Men: “You want the truth …. you can’t handle the truth.”

Webster defines truth as “the body of real things, events, facts, the state of being the case, a transcendent fundamental spiritual reality.”

One pastor/bible scholar defines truth as “that which is consistent with the mind, will, character, glory, and being of God. Even more to the point: Truth is the self-expression of God.” (https://www.gty.org/library/articles/A379/what-is-truth)

In much of the world in which we live truth has become relative, based upon convenience and personal taste. It has even been said that just because it is true for you doesn’t mean it is true for me.

There are even people who absolutely claim there is no absolute truth. Do you get the irony in that? I for one have come to the conclusion there is absolute truth and His name is Jesus. It is through Him the world was created and through Him it will be restored and redeemed.

Unfortunately, many times we who hold that belief do it in unsavory ways. Let us follow Jesus’ example as we graciously and humbly proclaim and live that truth.
